IFS Insight Guided Tour - Narratives
Start
This is where IFS Insight begins to help you - the Narratives Tab of the
IFS Tools window. On this tab you enter narratives or notes of various
types. Unlike some hand written notes, these are legible, indexed, easy to
read or print out. After you enter a session narrative, the software
encourages you to pull key events and insights from the narrative and put
them in their proper place in the Parts List (which you will see next).

For therapist use, the Therapy Session notes are where you record each
session, in as much detail as you wish. You will probably develop your own
format and conventions for recording a session. For instance, you might
insert a summary of the main points at the top, after entering a more
detailed narrative description of the session.
For personal use, the Internal Session notes make up a therapy journal. In
fact, you can conduct an internal session right at the keyboard while typing
in the session narrative. Since the software serves as your personal
journal, the act of sitting down and beginning an Internal Session can
function as a gateway to the inner landscape. For instance, after recording
the Self asking a question of a part, simply beginning a new paragraph with,
say,
"Little Billy: " often seems to trigger the answer to the question. This ability
may vary from user to user, or may come with practice.
